DIVIDEND GAME RULES

The Board Game

The game board is a 12-month calendar, with each month featuring space for a dividend-paying public company. Players navigate through the calendar, making strategic decisions regarding buying, selling, or augmenting stocks.

Game Setup

• Each month's space is marked by placing a company card that displays key information such as the starting stock price, dividend amount, and augmentation slots.
• Players start with $200 and can buy or sell stocks, or choose to do nothing each month.
• The game advances one month after all players make their decisions.

Stocks and Dividends

Players earn dividends per share for each stock certificate they own, with the amount subject to change based on augments placed on the board.

Augments

• Augments are small tokens that can increase or decrease stock prices and dividends.
• Each augment adds a multiplier effect on the stock price or dividend.
• Price and dividend can be increased or decreased, but stock price must always be higher than the dividend. The minimum price is 1, and the minimum dividend is 0.

Majority Shareholders

Players become majority shareholders by owning half the stock certificates of a company. They receive one price/dividend augment each quarter in addition to dividends. Majority shareholders can increase or decrease a stock's price or dividend using augments before buying or selling a share.

Hedgefund Managers

Players become a hedgefund manager by owning at least 12 different stocks, one for each month of the year. Hedgefund Managers receive a hedge augment annually on January 1st. They have three types of augments:

1. Price Hedge Safety: Prevents any decrease in the stock's price.
2. Dividend Hedge Safety: Prevents any decrease in the dividend.
3. Growth Hedge: Doubles the effect of price increase augments placed by majority shareholders.

Augments must be placed in order. When all three are placed, they are replaced by a Moat augment, similar to houses being upgraded to a hotel in Monopoly.

The Digital Game

The digital game follows the same rules as the board game but allows players to make unlimited moves within a set time frame, as long as they have the power.

Game Timer

The digital game features a game timer that changes the month every 30 seconds, adding a dynamic and fast-paced element to the gameplay.
